Polopiryna Throat Spray is a medicine in the form of a spray for short-term use to relieve the symptoms of throat inflammation, such as irritation, sore throat, difficulty swallowing and swelling. The active substance is flurbiprofen, which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). These drugs work by changing the body's response to pain, swelling and high temperature.

Polopiryna Gardło spray is a colorless solution with a cherry scent and taste, intended for adults. The bottle with a mechanical spray pump contains 15 ml of solution, which is enough for 88 sprays.

Indications

Short-term relief of symptoms of throat inflammation such as throat irritation, sore throat, difficulty swallowing and swelling.

Composition

1 dose of the drug (3 sprays contains):

  • active substance: 8.75 mg flurbiprofen,
  • other ingredients: sodium saccharin (E 954), citric acid, sodium hydroxide, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, betadex (E 459), hydroxypropyl betadex, cherry flavor (ingredients giving flavor and aroma, ethanol, glycerol triacetate, propylene glycol (E 1520), acid ascorbic acid, DL-alpha-tocopherol, water), purified water.

One spray contains 2.92 mg of flurbiprofen. 1 ml of solution contains 17.16 mg of flurbiprofen.

Action

Analgesic, anti-inflammatory.

Dosage

Polopiryna Throat Spray – how to use?

  • Adults aged 18 and over:  one dose (3 sprays, i.e. three pump presses in a quick, smooth motion) to the back of the throat every 3-6 hours, as needed.
  • Do not take more than 5 doses in a 24-hour period.
  • Do not use this medicine for longer than 3 days unless directed by your doctor.
  • If there is no improvement, you feel worse or new symptoms appear, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
  • If irritation occurs in the oral cavity, discontinue use of the drug.
  • The drug is intended only for spraying in the oral cavity.
  • Do not inhale when spraying the aerosol.
  • Before using the aerosol for the first time (or after storing it for a long time), first shake the bottle and then activate the pump (to activate the pump, point the nozzle away from you and spray the aerosol at least four times to obtain a uniform, light mist).
  • Before using the medicine, make sure that a uniform, light mist is produced.

Contraindications

Polopiryna Throat Spray should not be used if:

  • you are allergic to flurbiprofen, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), acetylsalicylic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
  • you have had an allergic reaction in the past after using non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or acetylsalicylic acid (e.g. asthma, wheezing, itching, rhinitis, skin rash, swelling),
  • you have or have had two or more episodes of stomach ulcers, bleeding or intestinal ulcers
  • you have ever had severe inflammation of the colon (inflammation of the large intestine),
  • you have ever had bleeding disorders or bleeding problems after taking NSAIDs,
  • you have severe heart, kidney or liver failure,
  • the patient is in the last trimester of pregnancy.

Storage

  • Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not use after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and bottle. The expiry date means the last day of the given month.
  • Shelf life after first use: 1 month.
