Description

Xylometazolin 123ratio Nasal spray.

Composition

The active substance is xylometazoline hydrochloride. Each dose (corresponding to 0.09 ml of solution) contains 0.09 mg xylometazoline hydrochloride.

The other ingredients are citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate, glycerol 85%, water for injections.

Dosage

Always use Xylometazolin 123ratio as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, the typical dose for adults and children aged 10 years and older is 1-2 doses of Xylometazolin 123ratio aerosol 1 mg/ml for each nostril, as needed, but up to 3 times a day.

Before using the drug, patients are advised to gently clean their noses. The last daily dose is best given before bedtime.

For hygienic reasons and to avoid infection, each aerosol bottle should be used by only one person.

Notes:

Before the first administration and after a break in treatment lasting more than 15 days, press the pump several times until the fine mist is released. With the next application, the pump will be ready for immediate use.

Duration of treatment

Xylometazolin 123ratio must not be used for more than 7 days, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Wait a few days before reusing the drug.

Action

Xylometazolin 123ratio contains the active substance called xylometazoline. It is a locally active clearing drug that reduces congestion of the mucous membrane and relieves the feeling of "clogging" nose. The drug reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa.

Indications

Xylometazolin 123ratio is used for short-term treatment of symptoms of nasal obstruction caused by rhinitis or paranasal sinusitis.

Xylometazolin 123ratio 1 mg/ml is intended for adults and children aged 10 years and older.

Contraindications

Do not use Xylometazolin 123ratio

• if you are allergic to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of Xylometazolin 123ratio

• if the patient has recently undergone neurosurgical surgery (per-wedge removal of the pituitary gland or other surgery with the exposure of the dura mater),

• if you suffer from dry rhinitis (a form of chronic rhinitis causing dry rhinitis, accompanied by scab formation),

• in children under 10 years of age.

Adverse reactions

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.

Rarely

Warnings and precautions

Talk to your doctor before starting use if:

• taking specific antidepressants called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO inhibitors) or other drugs that may cause increased blood pressure,

• coronary artery disease or hypertension,

• adrenal tumour (pheochromocytoma),

• metabolic disorders such as hyperthyroidism or diabetes.

Long-term use of a nasal spray containing xylometazoline (for more than 7 days) can lead to chronic oedema, and ultimately to damage to the nasal mucosa (thues inside the nose).

Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

After first opening, Xylometazolin 123ratio should be used within 1 year.

Use of other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. Concomitant use of Xylometazolin 123ratio with certain antidepressants (tranylcipromin MAO inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants), as well as medicines that raise blood pressure, may lead to increased blood pressure.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are suspected that a woman is pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

Since the safety of Xylometazolin 123ratio during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been sufficiently documented, Xylometazolin 123ratio should only be used after consulting a doctor and after careful consideration of the benefit-risk balance. Overdose may impair the supply of the foetus with blood or reduce milk secretion, and therefore the recommended dose must not be exceeded during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Use of the drug in children and adolescents

Xylometazolin 123ratio 1 mg/ml is not intended for use in children under 10 years of age.
