Vicks VapoRub ointment is a product based on eucalyptus and turpentine oil, as well as levomentol and camphor, which can be used by adults, adolescents and children over 5 years of age.

What is Vicks VapoRub for? Indications for the use of ointment are symptoms of inflammation of the nasal and throat mucosa, which occur, among others, in the case of colds or other upper respiratory tract infections. Vicks VapoRub ointment can be helpful in the impression of a stuffy nose, runny nose, swelling of the nasal mucosa, and in addition also in the case of cough. It contributes to the reduction of mucosal oedema and stimulates mucus secretion and its effective expectoration.

The package contains 100 g of Vicks VapoRub ointment. The product consists of 2.75 g of menthol, 5 g of camphor, and in addition 1.5 g of eucalyptus oil and 5 g of turpentine oil and auxiliary ingredients. The ointment is intended for external use. It should be rubbed on the patient's chest and back, this will promote the inhalation of its volatile components. Children aged 5-12 years should have a ½ teaspoon of Vicks VapoRub ointment applied at a frequency of 2-3 times a day, adolescents from 12 years of age and adults can use 1 teaspoon of ointment at a frequency of 2-4 times a day. When using the product, protect the eyes from contact with the ointment. The place of application of the drug should not be bandaged and warm compresses should not be applied to them.

Vicks VapoRub ointment may exhibit side effects in some patients. These are mainly various types of local reactions, appearing in the area of application of the drug on the skin. These are usually mild and quickly resolved symptoms. A contraindication to the use of Vicks VapoRub is hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, and in addition to the age of less than 5 years. Vicks VapoRub should not be used on mucous membranes or damaged skin. It is also not intended for patients with respiratory diseases (including active bronchial asthma), as well as with respiratory hypersensitivity.
