Espumisan 100mg/ml drops are a medicine available without a prescription for infants, children, adolescents and adults. It helps with colic, bloating and other gastrointestinal disorders associated with excessive accumulation of gases in the gastrointestinal tract. Espumisan drops have a pleasant banana flavour. How does Espumisan in the form of drops work?

The active ingredient of Espumisan is simethicone. This substance causes the gas bubbles in the digestive tract to burst and the gases to be absorbed through the intestinal wall or removed from the digestive tract as a result of intestinal peristaltic movements.

Espumisan drops - dosage

Shake before use.

In gastrointestinal complaints, such as colic, infant disease, flatulence:

Infants over 1 month of age - 25-50 drops per day in 2-4 divided doses (2 to 4 times a day), which corresponds to 40-80 mg of simethicone per day:

2 times a day for 13-25 drops

Or

3 times a day, 9-16 drops

Or

4 times a day for 6-13 drops

Children from 1 to 6 years old - 3 to 5 times a day, 25 drops (1 ml)

Children 6 to 14 years old - 3 to 5 times a day, 25-50 drops (1-2ml)

Adolescents over 14 years of age and adults - 3 to 5 times a day, 50 drops (2 ml)

In preparation for abdominal diagnostic tests:

Radiological, ultrasound examination: 50 drops (2 ml) 3 times a day the day before the test and 50 drops (2 ml) on the day of the examination in the morning, on an empty stomach.

As an excipient administered together with a contrast agent suspension: for a double contrast imaging test, use 4 to 8 ml (100 to 200 drops or 2 to 4 doses from the dosing pump) of Espumisan per 1 litre of contrast fluid.

In preparation for gastroscopy: before endoscopy 4-8 ml (100-200 drops or 2-4 doses from the dosing pump). If necessary, a few more ml of emulsion can be poured through the instrumental channel of the endoscope during the examination to reduce foaming of the gastrointestinal tract.

Espumisan drops can be used in infants from 1 month of age.

Drops Espumisan 40 - composition

Simethicone (Simeticonum) 40 mg in 1 ml of drops - active substance

Excipients - banana flavour, acesulfame potassium, macrogol stearate, glycerol monostearate 40-55, carbomer, non-crystallising liquid sorbitol, sodium chloride, sodium citrate, sodium hydroxide, sorbic acid, purified water.

Espumisan drops - how long are they valid after opening?

After the first opening of the bottle of the drug Espumisan drops, the shelf life is 6 months.

Additional information

The bottle contains 100ml of milky white emulsion. A dropper is included in the package. Before using Espumisan drops, read the package leaflet. 1 ml of liquid (40 mg of simethicone) is equivalent to 25 drops.
