Aspargin is a drug with magnesium and potassium in the form of oral tablets. It contains a well-digestible mixture of magnesium and potassium salts of aspartic acid, which is an important building block of the body.
Magnesium is an activator of many enzymes. It is essential for the functioning of the heart muscle, nervous system, vascular smooth muscle and striated muscles. It mediates the production and transport of energy in the body. Magnesium deficiency increases the risk of heart attack, coronary heart disease and heart rhythm disturbances. The symptoms of magnesium deficiency include: increased susceptibility to stress, hyperactivity, difficulty concentrating, and skeletal muscle dysfunction. Potassium is involved in the functioning of the cardiovascular system and nervous system, as well as in neuromuscular transmission. Potassium deficiency poses a threat to the proper functioning of the circulatory system, the excretory system and the regulation of water and electrolyte balance (responsible for maintaining proper blood pressure and acidity). Aspartic acid participates in the transmission of stimuli in the central nervous system.
Indications
Supplementing the deficiency of magnesium and potassium in the body: in heart disorders caused by potassium and magnesium deficiency; preventively in case of ischemic heart disease and at risk of heart attack; supportively in patients after a heart attack (during recovery); after surgery or infectious diseases that led to a decrease in magnesium and potassium levels; after long-term use of diuretics (e.g. furosemide, thiazides) and cardiac glycosides.
Action
Aspartic acid is an amino acid that provides cells with energy and is indirectly involved in the metabolism of nervous tissue. Its potassium salt stimulates brain function, improves memory and facilitates concentration. Magnesium relieves anxiety and agitation, eliminates insomnia, and maintains general activity.
Dosage
The medicine should be used as directed by your doctor. If in doubt, consult your doctor. Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: the drug is usually taken orally, 1 to 2 tablets 2 to 3 times a day, i.e. 2 to 6 tablets a day in 2 or 3 divided doses, which corresponds to 108mg-324mg of potassium per day and 34mg-102mg of magnesium per day. The medicine should be taken after a meal with water. Do not take more than 6 tablets a day. There is no need to change the method of administration and dosage of the drug in patients over 65 years of age. If you have the impression that the effect of Aspargin is too weak or too strong, consult your doctor.

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the drug; hypermagnesemia (excess magnesium in the blood); hyperkalemia (excess potassium in the blood); severe kidney failure; urinary tract infection (kidneys, bladder); heart problems (feeling your heartbeat is too slow, fast or uneven); myasthenia gravis (a rare disease accompanied by muscle weakness); significant blood hypotension. Do not use in children under 12 years of age.
Storage
Store at a temperature below 25°C, out of the reach of children, in the original packaging to protect against moisture. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the packaging.
