The rapid IgG/IgM cartridge test is a chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of IgG/IgM antibodies to Lyme disease in a whole blood, serum or plasma sample.

Lyme disease is an infectious disease caused by bacteria of the genus Borrelia, which are transmitted by ticks. The most common symptom of infection is an increasing area of redness on the skin, called migratory erythema, which appears about a week after a tick bite. Other early symptoms may include fever, headache, and feeling tired. If left untreated, symptoms may include, but are not limited to: loss of the ability to move on one or both sides of the face, joint pain, severe headaches with stiff neck, or heart palpitations.

Diagnosis of early phase Lyme disease: IgM and IgG tests can help diagnose early phase Lyme disease by allowing doctors to quickly recognise and implement appropriate treatment.

Treatment monitoring: These tests can be used to monitor the effectiveness of Lyme disease treatment, allowing doctors to assess whether the therapy is effective.

Diagnosis of atypical cases: These tests can help in recognising difficult and unusual cases of Lyme disease, where symptoms can be varied and ambiguous.

Screening: In some populations at increased risk of Lyme disease, such as those working in the tourism sector or in forest and agricultural areas, these tests can be used as a screening tool.

Method of conducting the test

Note: to perform a reliable, reliable test for Lyme disease, store the product in a dry place at 2-30°C and use before the expiration date. Do not drink, eat, or smoke at the place where the sample is stored and the test is performed, as this may affect the result obtained. Before performing the test, make sure that the sample, cartridge and buffer have been brought to room temperature (15-30°C).

Remove the test box from the closed packaging.

Clean the patient's finger with a disinfectant swab.

Massage your hand without touching the puncture site, rubbing it towards the tip of the selected finger (preferably the middle or ring finger).

Puncture the skin with a sterile lancet. Wipe the first traces of blood.

Gently rub your hand from your wrist to your finger to form a rounded drop of blood on the surface of the puncture site.

Collect blood from the patient's finger with a capillary, avoid air bubbles.

Insert 10 μL of the sample into the box, then add 3 drops of buffer (about 120 μL) and start measuring the time.

Read the result after 10 minutes.
